School Magazines

Whilst analysing two school magazines I made a note of the different conventions that was used. The vast majority have a school logo on the front cover; and the colour of the font matched the logo. They tended to use two or three main colours on the front cover generally primary colours catching the readers eye. They also used varying fonts and sizes of text. The main stories were on the front cover in clear text often in a large font and were often about school activities.

The main images were achievements of the students; for example the school football team with their medals. Or school trips that they have been on. The main image was centred at the right of the page.  The layout of the front covers were very minimalistic, the text in coloured boxes and bold headlines.

The language on the contents page was very simplistic and informal appealing to school children as well as parents. The name of the magazine often had correlated with the name of the school. The issues never had more than 15 pages in there magazine.
